This intermediate workshop provides mental health professionals with a consistent and culturally responsive way to understand and treat individuals from marginalized and minoritized populations who have substance use disorders. The history of and context for inequities and disparities in substance use treatment are explored. Participants develop a shared language related to substance use disorders and substance use treatment. A newly developed framework—culturally responsive substance use treatment (CRST)—helps participants at both the administrator and the practitioner level better understand how to equitably treat diverse populations with substance use disorders.
