ENROLL NOW

This intermediate workshop focuses on how culture influences mental health processes and identifies areas for cultural adaptation. The presenter introduces top-down and bottom-up frameworks for culturally adapting therapy. Concrete examples from a culturally adapted treatment manual the presenter developed for use with Chinese Americans and tested in a multisite community mental health randomized controlled trial are presented. Participants gain both breadth and depth of understanding as well as practical clinical tools to use with diverse populations. This study was the first NIMH-funded outcome study on an Asian American group that tested culturally adapted versus standard cognitive behavioral therapy.
