Spelman College; Co-Founder, The DEAR Project
Natalie Watson-Singleton, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, Associate Professor of Psychology at Spelman College, and Co-Founder of the DEAR Project. Dr. Watson-Singleton has expertise in African Americans’ health disparities and also examines ways to culturally modify mindfulness interventions to increase its access among African American communities. Her work has been recognized by the American Psychological Association, the Association of Black Psychology, the Association for Women in Psychology, and the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology. Overall, Dr. Watson-Singleton aims to produce research that can bridge science and practice to improve the lives of marginalized communities.
The connection between individual-level anti-racist action and systemic level change will be discussed, as well as how to leverage therapy principles to move beyond barriers to action and ensure that White allies' anti-racism commitments lead to real, lasting change.
