Health Information Integrity Team Lead,
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Dr. Chris Voegeli is the Health Information Integrity Team Lead at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Office of Director’s Office of Communications. In this role, he is tasked with developing, implementing, and evaluating CDC’s strategic plan to address inaccurate health information. Before this role, Chris was the Acting Vaccine Confidence and Demand lead in the Immunization Services Division of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, where he coordinated CDC’s domestic work building the public’s confidence and demand for all vaccines. During the COVID-19 response, Chris led the Insights Unit on the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, monitoring and mitigating the spread of vaccine misinformation, and led the White House’s Building Trust and Designing for Health Behavior Uptake Working Group.
Dr. Voegeli serves as a subject matter expert on establishing government systems to monitor and mitigate health misinformation and has advised CDC partners such as WHO, NATO, and ministries of health around the world.
Dr. Voegeli has an MPH and an MA and PhD in community psychology . He did his dissertation on the psycho-social factors related to distrust in government health information and the impact of trust on following public health recommendations.
