Presenter Logistics

Everything you need to know about presenting at APA 2025.

Locating your Room

Your session will be assigned a time, date, and location in early April. You'll be notified via email when your session is assigned, but you can always check by searching for your name or presentation title in the searchable program

On the day of your presentation, we recommend arriving at your assigned room 10 minutes early. Unless your session is scheduled for 8 a.m., there will be another session happening in your assigned room prior to yours. Please respect your fellow presenters and wait for them to complete their presentation before getting set up, and please respect the presenters coming after you by wrapping up your session on time.

Technology

Each session room will be equipped with an LCD projector and screen. You must bring a laptop with you to present. There will NOT be laptops in the session rooms for you to use.

You may also coordinate with co-presenters to use a shared laptop. Please ensure your presentation is downloaded to the shared laptop ahead of time or will accept a USB thumb drive.

Once in the room, connect your laptop to the projector with the appropriate cable. A variety of cable types, including converters for Mac computers, will be available.

If you have trouble with the in-room technology, locate a member of the tech support team in the hall outside your session room.

Tips for a Successful Session

We want presenting at APA 2025 to be an amazing experience for you! Here are our tips to help you give the best presentation possible.

Tip #1: Practice. 60 minutes goes by fast. Make sure your audience gets the full impact of your presentation by staying within your allotted time. Take some time to practice beforehand to make sure you get your timing right.

Tip #2: Roll with it. No matter how prepared you are, you can still come across a situation you weren’t expecting while presenting to a live audience. Do your best to stay calm. Your audience will be made up of fellow psychologists and presenters—they'll understand.

Tip #3: Use your mic. Even if you feel like you don’t need it, use the microphone provided in your session room. It will make your session more accessible for your audience. Learn more about making your presentation accessible.

Tip #4: Bring materials. Make an impact that lasts beyond the session room. Share materials from your presentation, whether it’s a copy of your slides, a one-page summary of your key points, or simply your business card. Your audience will leave with a tangible reminder of your work.

Tip #5: Include your contact information. Give your audience a way to get in touch with you if they have further questions or just want to learn more. You never know what type of connections you’ll make!
