This introductory workshop presents culturally sensitive and trauma-informed ways to work with undocumented immigrants in mental health settings. Step-by-step strategies are provided, beginning with conducting a thorough intake assessment to developing a treatment plan. The importance of clients’ stories—and how to help clients tell their stories—is discussed, as well as immigration policy and advocacy and their implications for treatment.
