Exposure to psychological trauma creates vulnerability in adolescents who lack the skills necessary to manage reserves for resilience. This intermediate workshop presents a cultural-developmental adaptation of trauma therapy (CDA-TT) intervention model for Black youth who incur the deleterious, disproportional effects of racism that compound the negative effects of trauma. Through the CDA-TT framework, participants examine the impact of trauma, common reactions to trauma, and health disparities resulting from trauma. Participants also explore ways to collaborate with community stakeholders who have trauma-informed perspectives. The presenters discuss preliminary findings supporting the use of culturally and developmentally informed trauma interventions for Black youth.
