This intermediate workshop provides updated information about youth suicide prevention, assessment, and postvention. Roots of vulnerability in youth overall and with marginalized groups such as Black and LGBTQ+ youth are explored, followed by discussion of the four critical areas of comprehensive youth suicide risk assessment. Participants learn and practice an evidence-based model of youth suicide risk assessment, with a focus on translating what they have learned into effective support plans. Discussion of best practices in postvention is also included, along with exploration of how these and other practices can be incorporated into school, community, therapeutic, and organizational settings.
